We are a local family based business.
We are a husband and wife duo and dedicated parents of five beautiful children. After discovering earlier in life that the current food system is laden with harmful toxins and poisons, we started growing food in our early twenties. After purchasing a block of land in the Daintree Rainforest in 2007, we went on to design and construct our own completely off grid home.
Over the years we have run a commercial microgreens business (Daintree Food Co.) and an organic market garden (Beelbi Creek Farm). Kurt has a rich background in sustainable living, through his study of permaculture, architecture and engineering. While my passions have been more centred around human psychology, spirituality and philosophy. Completing a Bachelor of Psychology in 2012, through James Cook University.
Now settled in the Toowoomba region we would like to offer up our services once more. We believe in the healing power of microgreens, we believe in the power of food to help mental illness and we believe that living a poison free life is key to good health. Together, we are dedicated to promoting healthy living and sustainability, with a strong focus on both physical health and mental wellness. Parenthood has deepened our sense of responsibility, fuelling our commitment to a healthier, more conscious world.

Food as medicine.

It’s extremely important to us that our greens don’t contain anything nasty, as this is counter productive to improving health. We purchase non GMO organic seed and use an organic medium to grow in. We also don’t use any synthetic petro-chemical fertilizers. So poison free food.
Vitamins
Microgreens are a great way to increase your vitiman intake. Most microgreens contain vitamins A, B, C, E, and K. However the coolest thing about microgreens is that all the vitamins contained in them are natural and combined with living enzymes so your body can actually absorb and use them in the most efficient way.
Minerals
Microgreens are a rich source of iron, zinc, magnesium, potassium, calcium, folate, manganese, and phosphorus.
Antioxidants
They are also packed with antioxidants such as sulforaphane, polyphenols, and lutein. Sulforaphane is a powerful antioxidant that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Polyphenols are a group of antioxidants that have been linked to a reduced risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer.
Hormone balancing properties
One compound in particular, called Indol-3-Carbinol (I3C), has a unique contribution to estrogen metabolism. Thanks in part to the action of our intestinal microflora, I3C actively promotes the breakdown of estrogen into its healthy metabolites (namely, 2-hydroxyestrone, or 2OH. This estrogen metabolite helps to reduce the effect of the more potent estrogen, called estradiol. Basically, I3C promotes healthy estrogen metabolism and can help to lessen the physical symptoms of estrogen dominance. Eating foods from the brassica family assist the body in increasing production of I3C.
Phytochemical composition
Microgreens are rich in biological phytochemicals, which have an immense potential to enhance human health and also aid in improving diseases. The major bioactive compounds, such as ascorbic acid, phylloquinones, α-tocopherol, β-carotene, phenolic antioxidants, carotenoids, anthocyanins, glucosinolates, and sugar content, are present in the microgreens.
Microgreens vs Mature Leaf
Microgreens compared to their mature leaf counterpart contain between 40 and 100 times more essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants per ounce.
